QUETTA: A shutter-down strike was observed in parts of the provincial capital on Sunday on the call of Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) against the killing of seven people from Hazara community in Hazarganji, an outskirt of Quetta.
The call for strike was supported by Tahafuz-e-Azadari Council, Tehreek Nifaz-i-Jaffaria, Balochistan Shia Conference, trade unions and major political parties.
At least seven people from the Hazara community were gunned down in two separate sectarian targeted killing incidents in Hazarganji on Saturday morning.
Abu Bakar, a spokesman for Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, had claimed responsibility for the attacks.
All the main markets in Quetta, including Liaquat Bazar, Alamdar Road, McCongi Road, Brewery Road, Jinnah Road, Smungli Road, Kasi Road, Prince Road, Spine Road, wore a deserted look during the day.
